More Than a Class: Honoring Women During International Women’s Week 2025

ree

International Women’s Day might sound like a cliché to some—but the truth is, gender equality is not moving forward as fast as it should. In many areas, we’re seeing setbacks instead of progress. There are still rights to defend, spaces to reclaim, and voices to amplify.

This is why events like these matter.

This spring/summer 2025, we celebrated International Women’s Week not just with movement, but with intention. For me, every Zumba event is more than just a workout—it’s a safe, joyful space where women come together to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

This second edition of our Women’s Week celebration was filled with group discussions, energizing games, and expert talks, encouraging participants to connect beyond the dance floor. And just like last year, I made sure the experience reflected diversity in all forms: nationality, age, lifestyle, and lived experience.

🌟 In Tullinge: A Smile That Inspires

We had the pleasure of welcoming Natalia Aguirre, a seasoned Zumba instructor with years of passion behind her. She transitioned from full-time work to teaching, now offering classes in Huddinge and participating in Zumba events across Europe. She recently began organizing events herself, even hosting international presenters. Her warm energy and contagious smile reminded everyone that leadership can be soft, joyful, and strong all at once.

🌍 In Odenplan: One Stage, Many Stories

Odenplan was all about celebrating the rich diversity within our Zumba community. I was honored to dance alongside:

Each woman brought her own flavor, music, and experience to the floor. Their presence made the event feel truly international, inclusive, and full of heart.

📸 Guest Expert: Jessica Halon on Facing the Camera

To round out the experience, we invited Jessica Halon, a Stockholm-based photographer, who shared a deeply empowering session on how to face the camera with confidence. Her tips helped many participants rethink how they see themselves—and reminded us that we deserve to be visible, exactly as we are.

All the presenters of the celebration

To everyone who joined, danced, shared, and showed up—thank you. You brought your stories, your strength, and your sparkle. Let’s keep building these spaces together. Let’s keep lifting each other up. And most of all—let’s never stop dancing like we belong here. Because we do.
