This spring, we kept the energy high with not just one—but two vibrant Salsa workshops held in Tullinge and Odenplan, each led by inspiring colleagues and fellow Zumba instructors. These sessions weren’t just about dance—they were about timing, rhythm, connection, and celebrating the rich cultural roots of salsa.
Salsa is one of the core rhythms in Zumba, and while it’s full of flavor and joy, it also comes with complexity. It’s easy to lose the beat if you don’t feel the timing deeply, which is why working on musicality and footwork in detail is so important.
💃 Tullinge with Rocío Anturi: Salsa in Her Blood
In Tullinge, we had the pleasure of dancing with Rocío Anturi, a Colombian instructor whose connection to salsa runs deep. Salsa is a family tradition for her—everyone in her family teaches or dances salsa, and that passion flows naturally through her.
Now living in Sweden with her family, Rocío brought warmth, energy, and precision to the workshop. Together, we explored:
🎵 Timing and rhythm
👣 Footwork and weight transfer
💃 Hip movements and body awareness

Rocío’s teaching style is both joyful and focused, helping participants tune into the music while unlocking greater control in their movement.
Odenplan with Paola: Technique Meets Passion
In Odenplan, we welcomed Paola, a dancer and instructor with many years of experience studying Latin dance. Her workshop took us on a journey through:
👟 Basic salsa steps
⏱ Timing and musicality
🌀 Hip and lower-body coordination
Paola’s strength lies in her attention to detail and the passion she brings to every class. Her clear explanations helped participants feel more grounded in the rhythm—giving them tools to continue growing beyond the workshop.

💬 Why This Workshop Mattered
For me, working with professionals like Rocío and Paola is incredibly rewarding. They both bring a high level of skill, clarity, and dedication, but what makes it even more powerful is the love they carry for the rhythm itself.
In a Zumba context, salsa is often one of the first rhythms people encounter—but it’s also one of the most challenging. The timing, syncopation, and body movement require patience, practice, and the right guidance.
These workshops gave our participants the chance to go deeper, not only in terms of technique but also in connection—with the music, the movement, and themselves.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on this salsa journey. Whether you were working on your first basic step or refining your hip technique, you brought heart, energy, and openness—and that’s what makes all the difference.

Let’s keep moving, learning, and celebrating the beauty of Latin dance together this coming season.
